Meet the Makers: Marfa, Texas

There’s something about the vastness of the mountains that makes you pause and put the world into perspective. Your size and significance are challenged on a daily basis, with the constant reminder that you are here for only a moment in time while the beauty of the landscape will be here forever.

Living and creating in a community nestled neatly against the Rocky Mountains means inspiration around every corner. Colorado natives and transplants alike flock to the mountains, summoned by the allure that is a lifestyle that welcomes artists, athletes, and business people, all sharing a fundamental admiration and appreciation for the outdoors.

The enormity of the mountains paired with the challenge of insignificance is what fuels so many. These artists, athletes, chefs, and business people defy the status quo and find space to do more, be more, share more. They are passionate about being part of a community that welcomes the fringe love of the environment. They come to be bold and brad, and most importantly to be their true self. These are the makers that inspire us all, no matter where we find our own communities.

eyebobs traveled to Marfa, Texas.
We discovered a community of Makers. We captured them in their environment, doing, making, being. We got to know them. We featured their stories and their product in our marketing materials. From Catalog, to web, to instore graphics and social media. Me art directing, creating beautiful work with Marfa and the Makers as the background.

Around every corner, down every street you’ll find a quiet moment, a color, a sound, a texture.

Jamey Garza and Constance Holt-Garza are a husband and wife team who relocated from the California coast to the high plains desert of Marfa back in 2003. The duo founded Garza Marfa, a line of furniture, textiles and ceramics rooted in the juxtaposition on the modern American West with the effortlessness of the West Coast.
